The Art of Shoes

Inspired by Francisco De Zurbaran's Santa Dorotea

Christian Louboutin partners with artist/photographer Peter Lippman to create this very art inspired shoe campaign for fall 2011.  Each photo is inspired by a master work and geniously incorporates the coveted shoes into the classic pictorials.  Just more evidence to support that shoes really are walking works of art.

Inspired by Georges de la Tour's iconic Magdalene and the Flame.

Inspired by Jean Baptiste Camille Corot's Portrait of a Girl
Inspired by Francois Clouet’s Madame au Pigalilli et Catalina
Inspired By Jean Marc Nattier's Madame Louise De France

Colour Crush

This beautiful home appears to have come together so naturally. The light, colour, textures and pattern play right off one another. Make no mistake this is the partnership of a brilliant designer and a talented photographer. The colours that pop and make the magic happen are just a few simple accessories, pillows and flowers. They could easily be swapped for other punchy colours and patterns, and still have the desired affect. The base colour throughout the home are neutral shades of green, gray, and linen. The furnishings are accented with beautiful details like curves and contrasting finishes. The result is crisp and so polished.  Now all we have to do, is study and apply!

Sleeping In

It was a wonderful weekend!  The Canadian Design Blogger Meetup a success!  We had so muich fun. I can't believe how worried I had been all week trying to make sure all the details were taken care of.  We gave away some really exciting prizes, including a $1000.00 gift certificate at IKEA and and IPAD2, and other fun items like Delta In2ition shower head, and the Touch20 Pilar, Design Books, pillows and more.

It was the never ending night, my battery died and I couldn't get out of the car lot, when I finally got a boost the Highway was closed for repairs so I had to take the long way home.  I finally made it, and when I got to bed I thought, tomorrow, I am sleeping in.  At 6:45, the kids were already crawling all over me.  So much for that.  I guess I'll just dream of sleeping in.

So here is the dream; first I sleep in til 11:00 am, then I have a light lunch, it's off the outdoor to read a book alfresco, and then a long bath.  Hope you are having a great Monday.  Pictures of Saturday will be up soon.

Design Social: It's Party Time

I can't believe it's finally here. After months of planning and plotting, late night emails, and numerous phone calls, it's all come together. I couldn't be more excited. Tomorrow, Canadian Design Bloggers will gather at Brassaii restaurant for an entertaining and fun filled Meetup. We'll have cocktails and great food, and a our special guest Tommy Smythe, will say a few words. I want to thank our amazing sponsors who have been a pleasure to deal with; Ikea, Delta and CIL. In addition to that numerous sponsors who have donated prizes and gifts, including House and Home, Kravet, Style at Home, Crate and Barrel and Rowenta. We'll have one amazing giveaway you won't want to miss. Thank you so much for your generosity.

We'll be sharing all the fun details of the event next week on our Canadian Design Bloggers Blog. And then I hope to resume to my normal rate of reading and commenting on all your blogs, I have been speed scrolling through reader for the last month!!  Have a great weekend everyone.

Cheers!

Murano Glass Lamps

I am not sure what the current blog lingo is; swooning, crushing or obsessing, perhaps I can use all three to describe my fascination with Murano glass lamps.  The colours are brilliant and extraordinarily reflective.  The textures and shapes are so inviting. Even the all white makes an interesting addition to a room.  So now, all I need is a trip to Venice to find the perfect one!

Farm Friendly

I am late to post this fabulous feature that was in the May/June issue of Rue. Country never looked so good! Elegant chandeliers, a tufted bench, antiques mixed with reclaimed, even a leather pouf fits in magically! How can you resist falling for the easy and charming style that country brings?  The stylist of this shoot was Megan Camp, and I can appreciate the relaxed harmony she brought to this space.  I think I am ready to bring a little country home!

Summer Love

Yup summer is here! It's bright and sunny, warm and windy, and it's time to enjoy.  Now I am by no means complaining about the heat, but I do like to keep cool.  Crisp whites, breezy blues, and icy glass.  How cool is the place? This kitchen is fabulous! If I could have an instant makeover in my home, this would be it! I love the over all plan of the kitchen as a galley, with the fridge and stove on the same wall.  the equally long island adds all that must have prep space.  The wood tone of the flooring is perfect, and the soft blue continues to be one of my favorite colours for kitchens and baths.
